System Integrators, ISVs, independent software developers and in-house developers can use the Ubikwiti Application Development Kit (ADK) to develop components, packages or templates for the Ubikwiti Platform. The Ubikwiti ADK is a suite of tools that allows ISVs or application developers to develop, customize, test, troubleshoot components, packages or templates, and publish to the U-KwikShop™.

Introducing Ubikwiti™ Application Development Kit (ADK)

Ubikwiti Wiki

Ubikwiti Wiki is the main repository of information to assist you to develop Ubikwiti components, packages or templates. In the Wiki you can find:

bullet Details of the Ubikwiti Platform
bullet Process of the Ubikwiti Application Development Life Cycle (ADLC)
bullet Services available in current build of the Definition-based Dynamic Engine (DDE) for you to access through DDE Script
bullet Full syntax explanation of DDE Script
bullet Steps to build your own Extension Object (EO)
bullet Method of publishing your component as a web service that complies to SOA standard
bullet Processes about developing, customizing and publishing your components

DIY-Toolkit

The Ubikwiti application comes with built-in DIY tools for DIY-GUI and DIY-Configuration.
The DIY tools provide a point-and-click, wizard-based, WYSIWYG (“what-you-see-is-what-you-get”), zero-learning-curve environment for you to quickly develop and enhance components.

bullet DIY-GUI helps you paint the screens and reports, set business rules, and utilize 3rd party web services for your components.
bullet DIY-Configuration helps you to complete the component by adding the actions, linking with other related components, and positioning it to the relevant Navigator Bar of a Ubikwiti application

DDE Script Editor

DDE Script Editor helps you to easily insert and modify DDE Script in your component. You can use DDE Script to control the behavior of your screen, orchestrate business processes, perform computations, validate user inputs, and set business rules or policies.

Business Component Library

As a Ubikwiti developer, you will have access to business components in this library via U-KwikShop. You can customize existing components to develop a vertical market solution; create your own components based on the Ubikwiti Common Layer business objects; and integrate components to your existing applications

Ubikwiti Extension Objects (EO)

If you have very complex business logic that you have difficulty implementing using the tools mentioned above, your solution is to build an Extension Object (EO). The Ubikwiti Platform requires EOs to be developed in Java in a predefined manner. Once you register the EO in your component definition file, the DDE will channel the process to your EO with the appropriate Data Transfer Object (DTO) during the execution of your component. This will give you unlimited flexibility to manœuver the business processes and implement complex business logic into your component.
